Health, Happiness, and Love

Most people I talk with are overly stressed, far too busy, and regardless of their relationship status, are not making the time for adequate self-care.

If you want a man who cherishes and adores you, then I encourage you to create a life style that promotes good self-care.

The actionable steps offered in this post give some clear ideas about where to start.

I have come to realize, at a very deep level, that making my own well being a top priority clearly supports a healthy, mutually empowering relationship with my wife.

The best time to establish and fully integrate the personal habits that support good self-care is while you are single.

This is because your new love will naturally tend to take over your life.

Establishing good habits of self-care now will help you to maintain your equanimity as you explore new relationship opportunities.

Good self-care is also a corner stone of all mutually empowering relationships.

Three Keys to Health, Happiness and Love

  1. Begin your day by giving thanks
  2. Make time to take pause 3 times a day
  3. Commit to learning and regularly practicing some form of proven revitalizing activity

Begin your day by giving thanks

“What We Appreciate, Appreciates”, Lynne Twist

I have cultivated the practice of beginning my day by taking a few moments to fully embrace a perspective of gratitude for the many blessings of my life.

This practice both helps me to get my motor running and establishes a positive emotional base from which to start my day.

I highly recommend the practice of beginning a daily gratitude journal.  This practice has helped many of my Clients to have much more happy lives.

Make time to take pause 3 times a day

“Be productive, without being self-destructive” Quote from my forthcoming book, The Road to Freedom

Most people I talk with tell me that they feel that there is simply not enough time in the day to do everything that the believe they need to do.

It is so easy to confuse effort with accomplishment and our “do more to get more mentality” often compels us to work harder instead of smarter.

Time pressured living almost always has a negative impact on our relationships, especially romantic ones!!!

Scheduling and taking time to take pause for ten minutes three times a day can really help you to stay more comfortably in control of your life.

I recommend taking a ten-minute pause three times day:

  • Just after arriving at work before checking your emails, looking at your schedule, or responding to phone calls
    • This will allow you to shake off your commute and get calmly focused on your day.
  • In the middle of your work day
    • There is a growing body of research that clearly shows that staying focused and productive requires taking pause to re-vitalize our energies.

The health of any organization begins with health of its people.

  • Before leaving work or shortly after arriving home
    • This will set a calmer, more present tone for your evening.

I invite you to build these “pauses” into your daily schedule and don’t forget to take pause on your days off.

Commit to learning and regularly practicing some form of proven revitalizing activity

“Take time for all things: great haste makes great waste”.

Benjamin Franklin

Our fast paced, time pressured living causes disease, mental and emotional problems, and tends to wreak havoc in all of our relationships.

One way to reduce the stress of daily life is to learn and regularly practice some form of proven revitalizing activity.

Some recommended, time proven revitalizing activities:

a. Yoga
b. Chi Gong
c. Tia Chi
d. Meditation

The key is to try several and pick the one that matches your temperament, life style, and most easily integrates into your world-view.

Once you have selected a revitalizing activity, start by practicing it at least 3 days a week.

If you have trouble sticking to your practice enlist the support of a friend, family member, or colleague to serve as your Accountability Partner.

While all of the revitalizing activities recommended above have been proven to be highly effective, they all require regular practice to have their intended impact.

The seed you plant today will bear fruit sometime in the future.

Why bother with any of this?

Would you want to live with a man who does not take good care of himself?

Why not?

One more thing:

You are the prize.

If you want to attract a man who cherishes and adores you then treat yourself like the prize you truly are.

I sincerely hope that you found this post inspiring and useful.
