Are YOU Ready for Valentine’s Day?

WELCOME!

The inspiration for today’s post came from an email ad from ‘Vista Print” with the subject heading: ‘Are You Ready for Valentine’s Day’?

The email then proceeded to promote all kinds of cards, banners, stationary, stamps, etc to help business owners and those folks who send Valentine’s Day cards to friends, colleagues, lovers, etc. so that they would not be caught off guard.

Just like Madison Avenue – another opportunity to make some money and promote a superficial, materially based perspective on a very special day.

The Beatles said it succinctly: ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’

From my world-view, carefully considered inner preparation that is in alignment with our deepest values, most inspiring beliefs, and strongest aspirations is the key to success in any field of human endeavor.

Why should pursuing the Love of YOUR life be any different?

It is in this spirit, that I invite you to exercise your love muscle by doing the following love attracting/energizing meditation every night before you retire between now and Valentine’s Day.

Really. Every night between now and Valentine’s Day?

Why? Because repetition builds strength. And because we are working to strengthen your ‘heart muscle’!

I recommend that you memorize the love attracting affirmation to be used in the meditation before you begin. This will be easy.

You can begin by reading it slowly out load. Find a pace that meets you. Really focus.

I promise you that it will be worth the effort.

Love Attracting Affirmation:

“I am a child of God.

I was created in Love,

I am worthy of love,

I open my heart to love.

I invite the ONE that I am intended to be with to join me in love.”

Tip: write this affirmation on a post it and tape it to your bathroom mirror, so that you see it every morning.

Once you have this affirmation committed to memory you are ready to dedicate 5 to 10 minutes to your Love Attraction/ Energizing Meditation.

An Inner Journey to Love

Beginning ritual:

A coaching colleague of mine once shared her meaning of the word ritual: “Right you all” – meaning that the purpose of a ritual is set things right in your inner world so that you can approach the outer world with clear intentions that not only serve you but those around you.

The following recommendations are based on my own practices.

Naturally, you can follow any practice(s) that meets you.

  • Light a candle.

I always recommend lighting a candle. Doing so generally sets a “mood” that is peaceful, reverent, and conducive to an “inner orientation”. The flame represents the Light of Wisdom and Truth as well as the flame of unconditional Love that burns deep in the spiritual heart of all human beings. It also is a universal symbol of Spirit and, for many people, elicits a deep attitude of reverence.

  • Burn some incense

This is intended to purify the space and to remove any odors that may be distracting.

The smoke also represents the nature of Spirit that naturally expands to fill the void of space. Please note that it is not necessary, or even desirable, to have incense burning the whole time you meditate.

  • Create a purifying sound

This is done by ringing a bell with a pure tone or using a pair of meditation cymbals.

Ring the bell or hit the meditation cymbals together three times allowing the sound to completely dissipate between rings. This is intended to purify the vibration of the space.

It even works outdoors.

What if you don’t have a candle, incense, or a way to make a purifying sound and/or just don’t have the time to do all of this.

No worries; just do the meditation portion.

Remember: The best meditation is the one you do!

Meditation Instructions

Those who have practiced meditation can sit or position yourself as you usually do. Those new to the practice of meditation can either:

  • Sit comfortably erect with your back, head, and neck in a single straight line in a comfortable chair with arms.

Or

  • Lie on your back on the floor or on your bed

The important thing is to be sure you are comfortable

  • Now locate your ‘heart cave’. You can locate your ‘heart cave’ by pressing your elbow against your side and then bending your arm at the elbow until it touches the center of your chest.

Once again, be sure you are comfortable.

Now, gently close your eyes.

Begin by taking three deep breaths in through your nose.

Breathe in slowly, gently and appreciatively drawing the air and its life giving oxygen into the deepest part of your lungs, then thoroughly exhale.

As you inhale, imagine that you are drawing in healing, restorative, invigorating energy into your body and mind.

As you exhale, imagine that you are releasing all of the pent-up frustrations with life out into the universe to be transformed into life giving forces.

Now imagine a golden, healing light that surrounds and infuses your body.

Feel the glow in your heart cave.

Repeat your Love Attracting/Energizing Affirmation out loud three times.

Then repeat it silently to yourself for 5 to 10 minutes.

Now observe how you feel.

Nice.

Off to dream land you go!
